About This Project

A breathtaking luxury villa compound built on the cliffs of Crete. The surrounding area soil volume consists of artificial embankment materials, which slide into the natural sloping rocky surface. Retaining walls constructed by blocks have been placed on the downstream side of the slide as a means of resistance, which, however, were not sufficient to prevent movements. Massive cracks were visible in the surrounding area block pavements.

Versatilis requested for a site investigation and carried out inspections to identify the failure modes.

Then carried out the Geotechnical and Structural Analysis and Design and provided stability to the embankment by a curved pilling diaphragm wall and soil nails.

Versatilis also supervised and coordinated the overall construction in order to ensure implementation of design.
